Website design
A website design agency for small businesses that need leads
Most small-business websites look fine and do nothing. Ours are designed around one job: getting a visitor to call, book, or enquire. Custom layouts, designed for the phone screen first, ready for Google on launch day, with one agreed figure in writing before we open a code editor.
Why custom design instead of a template?
Templates are cheap because every decision has already been made for someone else. Your page order, headings and calls to action end up following a theme's layout rather than the way your customers actually decide to buy. We design each page from your enquiry path backwards, so nothing on it is there by accident.
- We start from the question a customer arrives with and put the answer, and the next step, at the top of the page.
- Every section has to earn its place: if it does not build trust or move someone closer to contacting you, it is cut.
- Your site looks like your business, not like every other site running the same theme with a different logo.
- There are no page-builder plugins or theme licences to renew, so nothing breaks at the next update.
- You sign off on the real layout in a clickable preview, not a static picture of it, before the final build begins.
Built for phones first, because that is where your customers are
We design the phone layout before the desktop one, not the other way around. Buttons, forms and phone-number links are checked on real handsets, and every page is tested on a slow mobile connection so it still loads when someone is standing in a car park trying to find you.
- Your phone number, address and booking button are one tap away on every page, not buried in a footer.
- Forms are short, bring up the right keyboard for each field, and confirm clearly when they have been sent.
- Images are resized and served in modern formats so they do not chew through a visitor's mobile data.
- Text stays readable without pinching and zooming, and nothing important is hidden behind a menu icon.
Ready for search from the day it launches
Being SEO-ready is not a plugin. It means a site built so Google can read it properly, and structured so you can add pages later without calling a developer. Every site we build ships with the technical groundwork done. Ongoing ranking work is a separate conversation, and we will tell you plainly whether you need it.
- One clear topic and heading per page, with titles and descriptions written for the searches you want to appear in.
- Clean web addresses, a sitemap and the behind-the-scenes markup that tells Google your business type and the areas you serve.
- Page speed is measured before launch rather than assumed, and slow pages are fixed before you ever see them.
- Analytics and Google Search Console are connected at handover, so you can see which pages bring in enquiries.
- Built on Next.js, which serves each page as ordinary HTML that search engines can read without workarounds.
What "done" actually looks like
A finished website is not a login and a good-luck email. This is what you have in hand when a Starter Website project ends, so you can hold us to it. Every Starter quote starts from this list, and everything is set up in your name.
- A live site on your own domain, with SSL, hosting and DNS configured in accounts you own and control.
- A contact form that lands in your inbox, tested end to end, with spam protection in place.
- Analytics running and a short walkthrough so you can change text, swap images and add pages yourself.
- A revision round before launch to catch anything you want changed, then two weeks after go-live where we fix anything that surprises you.
- Source code and design files handed over, with a written summary of how the site fits together.
What does a small-business website cost?
A Starter Website begins at A$900 and typically covers a single-business site: a home page, a few service pages, an about page and a contact form. Sites that need bookings, customer logins or an online shop move into web app territory, from A$2,500. Either way, the price you are given after the free 30-minute consultation is the price you pay, and it only changes if you change the scope.
- Most Starter Websites go live within two to four weeks of the first call, and we agree the date with you before starting.
- The quote lists every page and feature, so you can see exactly what is and is not included before you commit.
- The consultation is free and there is no obligation to go ahead afterwards.
- Ongoing maintenance is there if you want it, never a condition of the quote, and nothing stops you handing the site to another developer later.

Common questions
Can you redesign my existing website instead of starting from scratch?
Yes. We begin by looking at what your current site does well and where visitors leave, then keep the content and search rankings that are working. Often a rebuild on a clean foundation is quicker and cheaper than patching an ageing theme.
Will I be able to update the site myself?
Yes. Text, images and new pages can be edited without touching code, and we walk you through it at handover. If you would rather never open an editor, an optional maintenance plan covers small changes for you.
Do I need to write the copy?
You know your business best, so we ask you to rough out the facts: your services, the areas you cover, your prices and what sets you apart. We shape that into headings and page copy that read well and match what people actually search for. Photos are yours to supply, or we will point you to where to get good ones.
How is this different from a Squarespace or Wix site?
Those tools are a fair choice if you enjoy tinkering and your needs are simple. With us you get a site designed around your enquiry path, pages built to load quickly on a phone, the search groundwork done properly, and the option to add real features later without starting over. You also own everything outright, including the code.
What do you build websites with?
Next.js and TypeScript for the site itself, hosted in accounts you own, with Postgres or Supabase when a site needs a database. We are the same studio behind Reckonly and Near Space, so if your site later grows into a booking system or customer portal, we build that on top of what you have rather than starting again.
